Theory

In case of exponential growth, you have to use powers: when you multiply the same number g t times, you write g t . This is a power, the growth rate g is called the base, t is called the exponent, where t is a positive integer (for now).

For a random base g and any positive integers n and m the following rules apply:

  • g n g m = g n + m

  • g n / g m = g n - m

  • ( g n ) m = g n m

For t = 0 : g 0 = 1 .
